Obtaining Financial Aid

For information on eligibility for financial aid from Mason, please visit the Financial Aid Office’s page on Eligibility Requirements. This link includes information on enrollment requirements, satisfactory academic progress and other requirements.

In order to receive financial aid, all applicants and students must submit a Free Application for Student Federal Aid (FASFA). Using the link provided, you can view, complete, and submit your FASFA to Mason. Students can submit their FASFA to multiple institutions at once. The FASFA will ask for your financial background, including income, taxes, and assets. Students under the age of 24 or those claimed as  dependents by their parents will be required to input their parents’ financial information as well. The FASFA uses prior-prior year tax information to make decisions on your aid. This means that for the 2017-2018 school year, the university will use tax information from 2015. This allows students to submit their documents earlier.

Students must submit their FASFA by March 1st in order to receive priority aid awards. After receiving your FASFA, the Financial Aid Office will reach out to you and let you know via email if there are any additional documents required to move forward with your application. Students can find copies of these financial aid forms that may be requested here.

There are often many questions regarding the Financial Aid process and awards offered. If you have questions about anything during the process, we recommend reviewing these FAQ’s to see if any of your questions have been answered.
